Looks like its raining remakes! Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Priyanka Chopra-starrer Bajirao Mastani is set to release soon, now wants to remake Showman Subhash Ghai’s 1993 blockbuster, Khalnayak.
According to a leading tabloid, SLB has offered Rs 9 crore to Ghai for the rights of the film, which starred Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. Earlier, Salman Khan bought the rights of Ghai’s Hero (1983) for close to Rs 7 crore, and Ram Lakhan’s (1989) rights were bought by Karan Johar for around Rs 5 crore.
As quoted to the newspaper, Ghai has been in talks with Bhansali over the issue for a while now. “Many producers have approached me for the rights of Khalnayak. Sanjay also expressed his wish to remake the film. We had to negotiate the price. But he got busy,” Ghai said.
