Ranveer Singh, who plays the title role of Bajirao of Bajirao Mastani, is disturbed by the protests against his film in many cities of the country.
Five shows of the film were cancelled in Pune on 18th December when 200 workers of a political party objected to many aspects of how the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has portrayed Peshwa Bajirao I in the film along with some other depictions. Some descendants of Bajirao have also raised issues with some of the things from the film, specially the kind of dance being done in the songs Malhari and Pinga.
Speaking at an event, Ranveer stated that he felt bad when such negativity was created,
"The feeling definitely gets negative because someone is protesting when you never had any such intentions. You work with your heart to entertain people and to make a good film... you work with complete hardwork and determination, and then such negativity is created. Obviously we feel bad because it is a negative issue."
Bajirao Mastani also stars Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
