On Saturday night, shutterbugs went in a tizzy when Shah Rukh Khan’s handsome son, Aryan stepped on to the red carpet at a high profile car launch, a fashion show (during which Shahid Kapoor walked the ramp for his designer friend Kunal Rawal) and an after party. However, Aryan, who was with his close friend, Ahaan Pandey (actor Chunky Pandey’s nephew) was spotted avoiding photographers. He was found extremely uncomfortable when a battery of photographers started clicking away his pictures. He kept trying to dodge them and was seen running away while covering his face with his hands. At one point of time he was even seen facing the wall and refusing to turn towards the lensmen, who were right behind him, ready with their cameras. Shah Rukh, who wasn’t aware that his son was away for a party on the weekend, looked amused and asked with a small laugh, “He (Aryan) was at a party?”
Shah Rukh continued, albeit on a serious note, “It’s awkward for children. Apology is a strong word, but I do excuse myself, it is odd for my kids today...very often I find myself telling them that, ‘I am very sorry I am a movie star’. There are lot of things that come with that package, that lifestyle, like privacy maybe, photographs, questions, controversies, issues, good things, reviews, negativity, positivity, gossip, and because I am in that profession, I have to accept it as it is part and parcel, that is my occupational hazard or occupational aspect to say. It is not theirs', so for them it is awkward to be photographed."
SRK further said, "Being photographed when they are out with their friends.. or being photographed while coming out of airport, they find it very odd. I will be very honest. Any child would. They don’t want to live as part of reflected glory. Yes, of course, if they are with me and they are photographed then it is logical. We go for the cricket matches, they are all right. They are walking with their dad, who is being clicked and they happen to be with me. On their own, kids at this age and stage will not like it. This is one of the reasons I sent them to study abroad because here the life gets too affected by my lifestyle and I think it is unfortunate, it is unfair. But they learn to deal with it. So yes, they are little awkward when accosted suddenly by the media and photographers."
