Sanjay Leela Bhansali whose film Devdas had been India's entry for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2003 Academy Awards believes that the Indian film industry should not worry too much about the coveted event.

The director, whose latest film Bajirao Mastani released in the theatres on 18th December 2015, questioned as to why the Indian film industry wanted an acknowledgement from the foreign film industry, "Why should we be so worried about the Oscars and why do we want an acknowledgment from foreign (film industry)? Why is that? Do they ever say that they need a National Award."

Sanjay also stated that he is currently enjoying the success of Bajirao Mastani and that he has no idea about his next project, "I have no idea and that's the fun of it. I want to go into the New Year discovering new ideas. At the moment I am enjoying the success of Bajirao Mastani."
